WHAT: Slave Lake’s Annual Indoor Soccer Tournament

WHEN: January 26-28, 2017

WHERE: Slave Lake, AB

DETAILS: This is a fundraiser for minor soccer programs in Slave Lake.  Get your team together and check out our website at www.slavelakesoccer.wixsite.com/soccer or email Esther at [email protected] or (780)516-4389.  This tournament is open to U12, U14, U16, Men’s, women’s and adult co-ed teams.  Sponsored by Newcap Radio.

WHAT: Emergency Services Charity Hockey Game

WHEN: Saturday January 27, 2018 @ 7pm

WHERE: Athabasca Multiplex

DETAILS: Come cheer on your local Fire, RCMP, EMS and Sheriffs as they battle for bragging rights in the 6th Annual Emergency Services Hockey Game. All proceeds go into the Rod Winter memorial Scholarship for youth who want to pursue a career in emergency services.

 

WHAT: Boyle School Grade 7 Donation Drive

WHEN: Sunday January 28, 2018 from 11am-2pm

WHERE: Old Boyle Seniors Centre

DETAILS: Donations can be left on the sidewalk in boxes or blue recycle bags in Boyle between the hours of 11 and 1:30 for pickup. Donations can also be brought into town and dropped off at headquarters. Looking for gently used goods like clothing, shoes, dishware, towels & bedding, books and CDs/DVDs, small tools and appliances. No large items like furniture will be accepted. All donations will help fund the grade 7 Drumheller Trip this June.

 

WHAT: Pancake Breakfast

WHEN: 7:30 AM-10:00 AM; next breakfast on Tuesday, January 30th, 2017

WHERE: Athabasca Senior’s Drop in Centre

DETAILS: On the menu: Pancakes, eggs, sausages, ham, coffee, tea and juice. Takeout meals available.

 

WHAT: Farm Women’s Conference and Awards

WHEN: Thursday February 8th, 2018

WHERE: Rochester Community Hall

DETAILS: Tickets on sale at Athabasca Value Drug Mart or Athabasca County for $30, includes snacks, refreshments and a hot catered lunch. Throughout day hear from guest speakers and enjoy entertainment from country western duo Randy and Rai Smith. The presentation of the Modern and Pioneer Farm Women of the Year Awards will take place at the conference.

 

 

 

WHAT: Outlaw Sled Drag Races

WHERE: Big Fish Bay, Slave Lake

WHEN: March 17th, 2018

DETAILS: Slake Lake Snow and Mud Association would like to invite you to the Outlaw Sled Drag Races. All Sleds MUST have tether cords. 60% off class registration given out as prizes, and concession available. Registration at 9am and Racing begins at 11am. Spectators $10 per vehicle. DETAILS: Join a member of the Aspen Primary Care Network to walk the track at the Multiplex. Completely free and for all ages.

WHEN: Wednesdays 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM

WHERE: 2nd Floor Turnabout Avenue Place

WHEN: First Thursday of every month 2pm-3pm

WHERE: Aspen PCN Office

DETAILS: Stop in and network with others in the community; available to people living with diabetes, relatives and caregivers of people with diabetes. Chance to share tips, recipes and talk about any issues you might face. An Aspen PCN nurse will be available to answer any questions. Topics include: Feb 1st: Great Diabetic Recipe Swap

DETAILS: Everyone is welcome to join in the crib night at the Athabasca Legion. Cost is $3 per player. Evening features lots of games of crib and a 50-50 draw!

 

WHAT: Pubstumpers

WHEN: Friday’s at 7pm

WHERE: Athabasca Legion Lounge

DETAILS: Pubstumpers is Athabasca’s trivia league. Put together a team of your own or join one of the existing teams. Trivia questions, multiple choice, music trivia game. $2 per player. Door prizes and 50/50! Everyone welcome!

 

WHAT: River Ramblers Square Dancing

WHEN: Friday’s at 7pm

WHERE: Turnabout Avenue Place

DETAILS: The Athabasca River Ramblers is the local square dancing group. Everyone welcome to come try it out! Perfect night out for couples or individuals. Great exercise! Cost is $6 for drop in.

 

WHAT: Athabasca Multiplex Programming

DETAILS: There is Bubble Soccer on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Thursdays organized Floor Hockey. Ages 6 to 15, $35 for Members and $40 for Non-members. Everyone encouraged to come try it out.
