What:  The Rotary Club of Athabasca and Rotary Athabasca Youth Development Association are pleased to host Jay Onrait, an Athabasca home town boy, as our guest speaker for the Celebrity Dinner & Auction. Tickets on sale now- visit Tickets $125. Funds raised will support the new Pool and Fitness Centre.


What: Online/Silent Auction for Rotary Celebrity Dinner

What: Bid on everything from art pieces to Oilers tickets to bobcat services and windshield replacements!


What: Forfar Community Hall Fall Supper

When: Sunday October 21 from 4-7

Where: Forfar Community Hall

What: Everyone welcome- serving delicious handmade perogies and cabbage rolls. $15 for adults, $10 for children 6-12 and under 6 eat free.

What: Soup + Bannock + Photo Set Fundraiser for Jocelyn Loken

When: Friday, Oct 26 from 11:30-6:30pm

Where: Athabasca Native Friendship Centre

What: As many of know Jocelyn Loken will be moving to Calgary to begin a new phase in her cancer treatment journey. Jocelyn has been a huge supporter of the Native Friendship Centre over the years-attending events, sharing information, and providing the most convincing support letters! Jocelyn also has a degree in Native Studies from the University of Alberta! She is a true advocate and a great Ally! On October 26th all of their Soup and Bannock proceeds will be donated to Jocelyn. They’ll will also have a Photo Mini Session available!  Spread the word and bring a friend!

What: Holistic Wellness Expo

When: Saturday October 27 from 10am-5pm

Where:  Athabasca Seniors Centre

What: Free Admission. The expo was inspired to showcase natural practitioners, with local artisans and health advisors. Featuring lots of speakers throughout the day, check out Athabsasca Holistic Wellness Expo on FB for more info/.

What: Deathabasca 2 Haunted House

When: October 31st from 6pm-9pm

Where:  Athabasca United Church

What: Admission $5 or a food bank donation. For ages 6 and up! All procceds going to Scare Hunger. Sponsored by the Athabasca United Church, put on by the Interact Club of Athabasca, the Leo’s Club of Athabasca and EPC Student Council.


WHAT: Pancake Breakfast

WHEN: 7:30 AM-10:00 AM; next breakfast on October 30th, 2018

WHERE: Athabasca Senior’s Drop in Centre

DETAILS: On the menu: Pancakes, eggs, sausages, ham, coffee, tea and juice. Takeout meals available. $8 a plate


What: Athabasca Merchants Halloween Party

When: Wednesday October 31st from 3:30-6:30pm

Where:  Athabasca Multiplex

What: Come for a little pre-trick or treating fun put on by the Athabasca Lions Club with the support of local merchants. Bring your dressed up kids for games and lots of candy!


What: Athabasca University Christmas Artisan Gift Show

When: Friday Nov 9 from 10am-6pm

Where: Athabasca Multiplex Fieldhouse

WHAT: Canadian Country Christmas

WHEN: Sunday December 2, 2018

WHERE: Perryvale Community Hall

DETAILS: 4:30pm Cocktails, 5:30pm Christmas Dinner 7:30pm Concert featuring Sean Hogan, Thomas Wade, Steve Wilkinson and Adam Gregory. Limited Seating is Available. Tickets are $45 for adults, $30 for kids aged 10-17. Under 10 free. Tickets available at Buy Low Foods Athabasca and Boyle, Athabasca Value Drug Mart and Cheap Seats. What: Walking Group

When: Oct 9- Dec 20, 2018

Mondays: 5-6:30pm, Tuesday 10am-11am and Thursdays Noon-1pm.

Where: Athabasca Regional Multiplex

What: Bring a pair of indoor shoes and join the Aspen PCN to walk the track, for all ages, no cost.


WHAT: Community Bingo

WHEN: Every 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday of each month @ 7:00 PM.

WHERE: Athabasca Seniors Drop in Centre

DETAILS: Everyone over 18 is welcome to come play Bingo. A concession will be available.


WHAT: Toastmasters

WHEN: Wednesdays 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM

WHERE: 2nd Floor Turnabout Avenue Place

What: Writing Group

When: Thursday evenings from 7:30pm-9pm

Where: Large Archives room at Alice B Donahue Library, Athabasca.

What: An informal group of people from the community who want to write, meeting weekly to engage in writing practice as described in Natalie Goldberg’s book “Writing Down the Bones: Freeing the Writer Within”. Materials required include pens, coils and a copy of the book.


WHAT: Crib Night

WHEN: Thursdays at 7pm

WHERE: Athabasca Legion Lounge

DETAILS: Everyone is welcome to join in the crib night at the Athabasca Legion. Cost is $3 per player. Evening features lots of games of crib and a 50-50 draw!


WHAT: Pubstumpers

WHEN: Fridays at 7pm

WHERE: Athabasca Legion Lounge

DETAILS: Everyone is welcome to come play trivia with Pubstumpers! Music, multiple choice, general trivia and picture clues! Fun evening! Meal for purchase. Cost is $2 per player. Drink specials, door prizes and 50/50 draw.


WHAT: River Ramblers Square Dancing

WHEN: Friday’s at 7pm

WHERE: Turnabout Avenue Place

DETAILS: The Athabasca River Ramblers is the local square dancing group. Everyone welcome to come try it out! Perfect night out for couples or individuals. Great exercise! Cost is $6 for drop in.
